Judging Information

General Notes on Judging

Hi teams!  The FIRST FLL Southern Nevada Tournament is just one month away and it will be here before you know it!  We hope you’re having fun preparing your presentations and building your robots.

Since the FLL Southern Nevada Tournament will be here soon, we would like to share with all teams some information from the judges that’s really important.  Please review the following three items with your team as part of your team preparation:

1. Core Values Poster

This year there is a new component of the Core Values judging process.  Each team is asked to prepare a Core Values Poster and present it to the judges during the Core Values session.  Attached to this e-mail is a Word document that describes the Core Values Poster.  Please include the preparation of this poster in your team’s pre-Tournament activities.

Please do not confuse this poster with any graphic arts products that you may be preparing to support the research project presentation.  This is a new component of the competition that is completely separate from the research project presentation.

2. Distribution of Judging Rubrics information

It’s important that teams understand what the judges will be evaluating so they can be prepared for each portion of the competition.  Please review the official Rubrics with your team prior to the competition.
The Rubrics are available on the FIRST website at http://firstlegoleague.org/sites/default/files/Challenge/FoodFactor/Combined_Rubrics_FINAL.pdf
The judges will be using these rubrics during the FLL Southern NV Tournament.

Please note that FIRST has redesigned the rubrics and awards and are different from the rubrics used last year.  For any questions, please see FIRST website at http://firstlegoleague.org/event/judging

3.  Team Information:

The judges want to get to know your team.  Please prepare a team profile sheet and submit it to us by e-mail at pbj_garfield@yahoo.com on or before Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011.  See FIRST website at http://firstlegoleague.org/event/eventinfo for the team information form.

Thanks,
Pam and Bill Garfield
